I’m an idealist, but I’m not naïve. Core principles should drive political decisions, but most career politicians prioritize raising money over principles, bowing to the desires of the rich special interests at the expense of their constituents.

I won’t do that. I’m too old to start a new career. I’m not taking any donations for the primary campaign. I’ll strictly limit the amount individuals can donate for the general election campaign.Old Glory

Instead, as a traditional Republican, I’ll apply these principles as a Representative in Congress:

Freedom and Equality: We live in a nation built on an ideal that all people are created equal, and that we all have inalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Individual freedoms and equal opportunity for all are the bedrock of our nation.

The Constitution and Rule of Law: The ideals of our nation are made real in the Constitution as our foundational law. No one is above the law, and everyone should be held accountable to it.

Fiscal discipline: Fiscal discipline on the Federal level helps maintain a strong, stable economy. Congress must reassert its control over the federal budget, lowering taxes for the middle and working classes while ensuring the ultra-rich pay their fair share. And punitive tariffs need to go; they only punish the consumer.

Equal Branches of Government: The Imperial Presidency has long been out of control, and Congress has done nothing to check these abuses. It’s past time for Representatives and Senators to fulfill their oaths to the Constitution and reassert their responsibilities.

Power to the People: We are a nation of the people, by the people, and for the people. Listening to constituents instead of raising money from special interests has to be the priority. And any proposals to restrict citizens’ right to vote must be defeated.
